For all our lofty thinking and idealism, people in the Arts faculty can be indeed very stupid at times.
The girl sitting in front of me in lecture wore an open-neck blouse (what I believe is called a boatneck) and a normal bra. Usually it would be prudent to wear a strapless bra so that no straps show, but people are beyond that nowadays. But at least they have the common (and fashion) sense to wear a nice bra with lovely straps! Not for this girl. It seems she was wearing a granny-bra, it was skin-coloured (in two tones, too!) and it most definitely isn’t a “nice” bra. It’s the kind that sits in the bargain bin, while the stylish, seamless, Maximizers are hung out in front. If even the bra company won’t display them in pride of place, why the hell should you? Sheesh.
Granny bra. Honestly. Go ahead and wear them, just let no one see them. Didn’t Bridget Jones teach you anything?
While walking back, a beige Toyota stopped on the road for no reason. The guy in the passenger seat was talking to the (presumably) female driver. The lorry behind them honked, and they got moving again. What was that about? There was no reason to stop. No pedestrians, pets or parking gates. Beyond the mechanical arm of the parking gate, the Toyota stopped again. This time the lorry driver lost his patience, and accelerated his vehicle with a feral roarrrrrr. Then he hounded them until they turned off at a junction. It was funny. Never mess with someone who drives a vehicle for a living. Dumb Toyota. What were they playing at, I’d like to know. Assuming it’s a female driver, it couldn’t have been aggressive driving to piss off the lorry unless the guy was egging her on.
Further accounts of stupidity include, but are not limited to: Forgetting to bring a pencil for a quiz (one miserable pencil, and you don’t even have that?), not putting phones on silent mode during class (especially if it’s announced by a loud and resonant ringtone) and spending 3 cents a page, not to mention hours in the library, photocopying an entire textbook, when the book is easily available.
Such are the things we learn, and don’t learn, in university.
